This course is designed to equip Biomedical Engineering graduates and practicing professionals with the essential knowledge required to address emerging cybersecurity challenges in modern healthcare environments. With the rapid digital transformation of healthcare systems—ranging from electronic health records and telemedicine platforms to interconnected medical devices and IoT-based monitoring systems—the flow of sensitive health data across shared and networked infrastructures has significantly increased.

The course provides a comprehensive understanding of how these advancements have reshaped healthcare service provisioning, while simultaneously introducing critical vulnerabilities and security risks. This course, Data Analytics for System-Wide Transformation in Healthcare, introduces the application of data analytics to drive improvements in healthcare delivery systems. It covers key concepts such as health data management, predictive and prescriptive analytics, and data visualization to support clinical and operational decision-making.

The course explores the role of data analytics in digital healthcare transformation, including clinical decision support, operational efficiency, and improved patient outcomes. It also provides an overview of Electronic Health Records (EHRs), including their structure, interoperability, and implementation challenges, as well as emerging trends in healthcare information systems.

In addition, students will examine telemedicine technologies, their infrastructure, applications, and key considerations such as data security and patient privacy. Through case studies and practical activities, participants will develop the skills to design and evaluate data-driven healthcare solutions.

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to digital literacy in the context of modern healthcare systems. It is designed to equip Biomedical engineers and healthcare professionals with the knowledge and skills required to effectively engage with emerging digital technologies transforming healthcare delivery.

The course explores key components of digital healthcare, including electronic health records (EHR/EMR), telemedicine and mobile health (mHealth), artificial intelligence (AI), wearable and remote monitoring technologies, and data-driven clinical decision support systems. It also examines the broader framework of digital transformation and the transition toward Industry 5.0, emphasizing human-centered, ethical, and sustainable healthcare innovation.

Alongside technological concepts, the course addresses important considerations such as data management, interoperability, cybersecurity, and regulatory frameworks. Emphasis is placed on how these elements come together in real-world healthcare settings, as well as the practical challenges involved in adopting and implementing digital solutions.
